“The Journey” by Al-Gazalī inspires spectacle at Silves Castle

Show always takes place at 22:30

“The Journey” by ambassador Al-Gazalī to the lands of the Vikings is the central theme of the show that will take place during the Medieval Fair of Silves (9-18 August) at the Castle.

Every day, at 22:30 pm, the companies of Theater Anymamundy, Malatitsch and Boca de Cão will guide the spectators on a “Viagem” that will include dance and music.

In this scenario, which is the most emblematic space in the city, it goes back to the year 844, when the threat of war hung in the air.

The Majus (Vikings) attacked the back of the Gharb al-Andalus, plundering, looting and spreading terror and chaos.

It was urgent, then, that peace be negotiated. Thus, Emir Abd Al-Rahman II, based in the burgeoning city of Cordoba from which power emanated, sent Al-Gazalī, a poet and skilled diplomat who, accompanied by his entourage and generous offers, left the port of the beautiful city of Xilb , in a vessel built in its arsenals, to respond to such an important demand.

The moments of embarkation, the sailor's dream, the storm, the repair of the vessel and the rest of the navigators and their arrival in Viking lands will be some of the strong points of the action.
