Students from Goa came to Faro learn to cook “in Portuguese”

Schools in Portugal and Goa have promoted student exchanges

The Algarve Hotel and Tourism School (EHTA) will host until May 17th a group of 12 students from the VM Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education of Goa (India), accompanied by a trainer.

The presence of these young Indians in Faro takes place within the scope of an exchange protocol between Turismo de Portugal and the Indian institute and aims to train students and trainers from both countries.

In February, Rui Horta, an EHTA student, traveled to Goa with other hotel school students and stayed in Indian lands for a month.

«Throughout the stay, the group was in contact with Indian cuisine and culture. In this experience, there was an opportunity to recreate an Algarve menu by making the famous cataplana», according to EHTA.

The training program at the Algarve school includes, among other activities, workshops in cooking, pastry and bakery, bar, winemaking, as well as visits to tourist attractions and companies in the region.
