Jazz in the cellars is «a success» in Silves

There are still three sessions to the end of this edition

The 3rd edition hasn't even finished yet, but it can already be said that “Jazz nas Adegas” is “a success”, in the opinion of Rosa Palma, mayor of Silves. Joining music and wine is the premise of this initiative, which had a special show, this Friday, April 26, at Corticeira Amorim.

For this session, which was sold out, the industrial unit was transformed into a concert hall, with cork blocks serving as a table and seat.

On stage were the Rerum Ensemble who, with jazz rhythms, interpreted songs by Zeca Afonso, singer of liberty.

Even before the concert, there was time for a trip to the factory, where cork blocks and boards are produced. Of the 17 thousand cubic meters produced annually, 90% goes for export.

To publicize different spaces in the municipality, such as Corticeira Amorim, is also the objective of this Jazz in the Cellars, an initiative that has attracted a lot of public.

“The ticket office speaks for itself. All sessions have been sold out and we are achieving what is intended, which is to promote our wines”, said Rosa Palma, who was present at this session.

Is that, across the county, there are 11 wine producers. «The wineries go from the mountains to the coast. With this initiative, we also want to publicize our territory», said the mayor.

Jazz in the Cellars is supported by the "365Algarve" and, according to Rosa Palma, the next edition is already being prepared.

“We are working towards that. We have already submitted an application to “365Algarve” and we have different ideas. Maybe we'll end up on the coast”, said Rosa Palma, without wanting to give more details.

For now, it is certain that there are still two more sessions of this year's edition of “Jazz nas Adegas”, an initiative that started in 2017.

The next is on the 17th and 18th of May, at 21 pm and 00 pm, respectively, at Quinta do Barranco Longo, in Algoz. The musical part will feature Desidério Lázaro Trio.

“Jazz nas Adegas” ends on the 25th of May, at 17 pm, with a special session, in the heart of Silves Castle.

The concert will be by Miss Manouche and, as is the hallmark of this initiative, there will be no lack of entertainment and… good wine.
