Camané and Mário Laginha join for concert at MED

Show promises to surprise the audience

The fado singer Camané and the pianist Mário Laginha will give, together, a concert at the MED Festival that takes place from the 27th to the 30th of June, in the Historic Center of Loulé.

This is a «show that promises to surprise the public», says Câmara de Loulé.

Camané and Mário Laginha have already given several concerts together. «From the excellent understanding felt in these sporadic collaborations, the inevitable deepening of this symbiosis has now resulted: “Here is quiet” is a new project designed from the ground up to give more shine to a voice and a piano that were discovered to be accomplices since the first time that filled a stage», he adds.

This show will feature about two dozen themes, coming from the traditional fado canon, from Camané's repertoire and will also include unpublished songs composed by Mário Laginha who, remember, has already set to music a poem by Álvaro de Campos “Ai Margarida”, which is part of one of Camané's last albums.

Both artists need no introduction because of their brilliant curriculum in each of their areas: Camané, in Fado, and Mário Laginha, in Jazz. Passing through the MED – Camané Festival, in 2009, and Mário Laginha, in 2010, with the project “3 Pianos” (alongside Bernardo Sasseti and Pedro Burmester).

So far, alongside Camané and Mário Laginha, the names of Brazilian Marcelo D2, Mellow Mood (Italy), Marinah (Spain), the multicultural and transnational project The Turbans (Bulgaria/Israel/Iran/Greece/Turkey) have already been confirmed. /United Kingdom), Kel Assouf (Niger/Belgium), Selma Uamusse (Mozambique/Portugal), Orkesta Mendoza (United States/Mexico), Anthony Joseph (Trinidad and Tobago), Moonlight Benjamin (Haiti/France), Dino D'Santiago (Portugal/Cape Verde) Tshegue (Congo/France) or the Portuguese Gisela João, Dead Combo, Diabo na Cruz and Cais do Sodré Funk Connection.
