Auditorium seats 120

It is a space dedicated to «more intimate shows» and who comes to «strengthen the commitment to culture as a strategic axis for the municipality's development». The new Auditorium of Solar da Música Nova was inaugurated this Friday, February 1st, in Loulé, in what was «a great day for the city».

The space, located at the Loulé Music Conservatory – Francisco Rosado, has space for 120 seats and is intended not only for concerts, but also for theater, dance, seminars, conferences and training.

For the inauguration, the house silver: students from the Conservatório, the first public school for music teaching in the south of Lisbon, and from the Sociedade Filarmónica Artistas de Minerva offered their parents and colleagues performances on the guitar, harpsichord, drums, marimba or piano.

«This is an important day for the council because Loulé is equipped with yet another cultural equipment. The development strategy of the Câmara de Loulé is to affirm culture and make it a strategic axis», said Vítor Aleixo, Loulé mayor, to the Sul Informação, on the sidelines of the session.

The program already outlined until July includes concerts by Galopim (16th February), Pedro Jóia (17th May) or Luísa Sobral (4th July). Because this is going to be a space with a strong commitment to Portuguese music, hence the choice of these artists.

Another particular feature of the space is the fact that the stage is embellished with bricks from the old Solar da Música Nova, which was in ruins before the works, and the Palácio Gama Lobos, neighbor Solar and which is also being improved.

«It was a very interesting idea by the architect Vítor Mestre. Basically, we have recovered the work of those who came before us. That's what life is all about: we are always indebted to one another», concluded Vítor Aleixo, to the Sul Informação.
