Solar da Música Nova Auditorium bets on Portuguese music

Opening tickets cost 6 euros

Portuguese music. This is the big bet of the Auditorium of the Solar da Música Nova, in Loulé, which will open on the 1st of February.

According to the Câmara de Loulé, the artistic program will focus on the «regular enhancement and promotion of emerging or little-known projects by the Algarve public (based or not in the region) in the areas of music, theatre, dance and multidisciplinary».

Thus, through a program articulated in a network with the Cine-Teatro Louletano, the cycle “Ilustres Descobertas” will be premiered on February 16th (Saturday), at 21 pm, which will feature musical projects Galopim (from Faro) and the duo Raquel Ralha & Pedro Renato (ex-Belle Chase Hotel) as initial guests.

The cycle in question will have a bimonthly periodicity, always taking place on a Saturday at 21 pm. In April it will be the turn of Lince (a musical project by Sofia Ribeiro), on the 30th, and Cassete Pirata, on the 6th.

In early 2017, João Tiago Neto, mentor of bands such as Melomeno – Rítmica and Nome, groups that stood out in the Algarve music scene, decided to create a new project of his own under the name Galopim (“message boy”).

With a four-track EP released in its debut year and recorded at the Mentecapta Produções Audio studio with the production of Francisco Aragão, Galopim has already participated in several festivals.

According to the local authority, Galopim has a «musical style that goes from electronic pop to experimental low-fi, the “man of errands” advances to a new stage, in which he has the company of the musician, also from the Algarve, André de Oliveira on guitars and synthesizers, among other guests».

Raquel Ralha and Pedro Renato have worked together since the time of the Belle Chase Hotel. They continued on with Wraygunn, Azembla's Quartet and, more recently, with Mancines.

At the invitation of the program “Cover de Brussels”, which broadcasts weekly on Rádio Universidade de Coimbra, they got together at Blue House, for the first time as a duo, to record three covers.

Thus came the versions of “Nerves” (Bauhaus), “Peek-A-Boo” (Siouxsie and The Banshees) and “Right Now” (Herbie Mann/Mel Tormé), which acted as the starter for The Devil's Choice, Vol .I, a complete disc of versions, edited by the hand of Lux Records, which revisits some of the most striking themes from the vast musical library that fills the unique imagination of the two musicians.

The event lasts approximately 120 minutes (with a break, in which there will be a brief presentation of the program planned for that new equipment, including a cocktail reception), it is intended for people over 6 years old and the ticket costs 6 euros, no discounts.
