Vila do Bispo honored former employees and awarded students on its municipal holiday

Four students from the EB 2,3 School of S. Vicente received 150 euros in purchases

The Vila do Bispo Chamber paid homage to the municipality's employees who retired in 2018 and delivered school merit awards, last Saturday, January 19, as part of the official ceremonies of the municipal holiday.

José António Correia de Oliveira, operational assistant (heavy driver), Manuel Albano Lourenço, operational assistant (heavy truck driver) and Maria de Lurdes Dias Rosa, operational assistant (educational action assistant) were the honored former employees.

Former employees received a souvenir

According to the Vila do Bispo Council, this initiative was intended to «publicly recognize the important work developed over a lifetime by employees who were an example of professionalism, devotion and spirit of service to the public cause, contributing daily to the proper functioning and development of municipal services'.

The best students from the 6th and 9th grades of the EB 2,3 School of S. Vicente de Vila do Bispo were also distinguished, in a ceremony that included Adelino Soares, Mayor, Alexandre Lima, Regional Education Delegate and Joaquim Azevedo, Director of the Schools Group of the county.

Laura Canovas (6th grade) and Mafalda Candeias, Matilde Silva and Tomás Garcia (9th grade) were the awarded students, who took home a FNAC card worth 150 euros and a school achievement merit plate.

Students also received two free entries each to Zoomarine, which were offered by the theme park.

Every year, the City Council awards school merit awards to the best 6th and 9th grade students of the EB 2,3 School of S. Vicente de Vila do Bispo, «a prize that aims to encourage and recognize the efforts of the young people for their school performance throughout the previous school year», concludes the municipality.
