Fortaleza de Sagres receives the title of “International Place of Culture and Peace”

International Human Rights Observatory has its headquarters in Portugal

The International Human Rights Observatory (OIDH) will award the Sagres Fortress the honorary title of “International Place of Culture and Peace”, in a public ceremony to take place on December 10, at 14 pm, in the auditorium of the Sagres Fortress.

The award is part of a global chain of solidarity, in the sphere of global citizenship in favor of Peace and in the recognition by the OIDH of some notable monuments, today spaces of culture and peace, transmitting tranquility, well-being and knowledge to all who visit it, promoting the values ​​of interculturality, equality and peace.

The ceremony, taking place on December 10, is also a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 40th anniversary of Portugal's accession to the European Convention on Human Rights and will be attended by Maria Luísa Francisco, OIHD advisor , Alexandra Rodrigues Gonçalves, regional director of Culture of the Algarve, and a representative of the executive of the Municipality of Vila do Bispo.

The International Human Rights Observatory, with its global headquarters in Portugal, is a non-profit, free and independent organization that, through its various nuclei, promotes and participates in different national and international actions, having as its fundamental principle the dignity of the human person. as an inalienable value and, as a primary objective, the constant defense of the principles enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
