Folkfaro takes Russian, Peruvian and Senegalese rhythms to São Brás

Music groups from Russia, Peru and Senegal will animate, this Friday, August 24, the Jardim da Verbena, in São Brás de Alportel. 

The initiative takes place under the International Folklore Festival – City of Faro- folkfaro. The event, which has a nerve center in the Algarve capital, also passes through Loulé, Olhão, Albufeira or Tavira.

In the heart of the historic center, the groups “Ritmos del Tiempo – Ballet Folclórico Peruano” will be performing, coming from Peru, “Varenka”, directly from Russia, and “Ballet Internacional Jammu” from Senegal.

Once again, the stage at Jardim da Verbena hosts this event, which, year after year, has been providing great shows with folklore groups from all over the world.

The group “Ritmos del Tiempo” promises to infect the public with lots of rhythm, music and all the color of their costumes.

This group “has been developing an intense work in favor of the promotion of the cultural identity of Peru, in South America”, says the City Council of São Brás.

The folk group “Varenka” was created in December 1998, in the city of Saratov, Russia. They arrive on the stage at Jardim da Verbena in the year they celebrate 20 years of activity in the preservation and dissemination of their ethnographic traditions and their heritage in the area of ​​dance and music.

The Jammu International Ballet, from Senegal, will present a fusion between the traditional dance of that country with contemporary dance and acrobatics.

On stage, traditional European instruments and African instruments such as the djemne, the kora and the Nder will provide the Mbalax rhythms, the most popular Senegalese music that, together with the dancers and their choreographies, will enliven the audience.

The night of dances around the world starts at 22:00, with free entry.
