The University of Algarve was, from June 20th to July 6th, in the United States of America to promote, among schools, universities and companies, the “Milage Learn+” platform which is a «portable explainer» of Mathematics.

With the support of Pedro Oliveira, consul of Portugal in Newark, and José Adão, deputy coordinator of Portuguese Education in the United States of America, several presentations were made at the Newark Public Schools, with a view to developing a pilot project for the use of platform in those schools.

Led by Mauro Figueiredo, researcher responsible for creating the platform and professor at UAlg, there were also several presentations in public schools in Miami-Dade with the same objective.

Finally, several meetings were held, coordinated by Hugo Barros, coordinator of the Division of Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer (CRIA) of the University of Algarve, with companies that develop educational projects in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics with a view to future partnerships for the use of the platform.

The application was developed for teaching mathematics and implements an innovative pedagogical method that encourages autonomous learning.

With this application students can solve exercises, from the 1st to the 12th grade, in the classroom or autonomously. More than 10 students use this application, also available in multiple languages.

This action was promoted under the project TT 2.0 – Transfer of Technology and Knowledge to the Market, co-financed by CRESC Algarve 2020, through the Support System for Collective Actions – Transfer of Scientific and Technological Knowledge.
