Three Porsche cars, one of which is a GT3 RS version, and new cameras that allow you to film your driving in detail are new from the “Racing School” at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, in Portimão, in a year in which the Algarve circuit is experiencing "a historic year".

These news were revealed to the Sul Informação by Paulo Pinheiro, CEO of Parkalgar, the company that owns the Autodromo, at an event this Tuesday, 3 July.

According to the official, with these new cameras, built into the cars, it is possible to see «all the details of driving, from braking points, speeds» with everything being recorded on a pen that each user can take home at the end.

Racing School do Autódromo is «a highly sought after service, both in the individual and in the corporate component», mainly in the foreign market. "We realized the potential and the feedback has been fantastic," Paulo Pinheiro told Sul Informação.

In total, the Racing School fleet has 10 cars, including Porsche, Honda Civic and Mercedes. But it's not just in cars that this AIA service give cards: the instructors are renowned pilots such as Miguel Oliveira and Miguel Praia…

“Even minors can participate in the Racing School, as long as they are authorized by their parents, to learn how to drive and control the car. We think that the civic component in driving is also very important», Paulo Pinheiro told our newspaper.

In the area of equipment, the works are being completed in the paddock» for some changes to the Racing School track, with everything being ready «in the month of August».

What is certain is that 2018 is already being a historic year for the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, recording the best occupancy rate since its opening in 2008.

For example, in February, Aston Martin chose the Algarve circuit to present the new model – Vantage – to the world press, at an event that brought close to 1800 people to the region.

The global presentation of the Jaguar Land Rover was another highlight that attracted more than 18 people and 650 journalists from around the world.

The high number of participants in these events by Jaguar and Aston Martin ensured, in an extension that goes from Loulé to Lagos, close to 45 thousand overnight stays.

As for future events, three major international competitions are already scheduled: FIM World Superbike Championship, from 14th to 16th of September, the Algarve Classic Festival, from 19th to 21st of October, and the European Le Mans Series, from 26th to 28th of October .

Once again, the AIA receives the most cherished race on the circuit, the Superbike, which last year only lasted
The three-day event brought around 50 visitors to Portimão, including teams, drivers, journalists, staff
organizational and spectators.

One of the novelties happens in August, on the 4th and 5th. The Family Weekend, an event open to the public, wants to attract families to the circuit.

“The idea is that people come here, they can drive, if they want, be at the pool or try our restaurant. There will be permanent activities everywhere», concluded Paulo Pinheiro to our newspaper.
