About 140 volunteers, linked to 16 hunter associations in Castro Marim, collected around six tonnes of waste from the county's hunting reserves, during a cleaning action that took place on Sunday, 20 May.

The initiative took place on the National Day of the Hunter for the Environment and aimed not only at collecting garbage from the reserves, but also at promoting “awareness for a greater concern in protecting and caring for the environment”, according to the Chamber of Castro Marim. After cleaning, there was interaction between the participants, at Corte Gago.

The Chamber of Castro Marim also stressed that it has been supporting some of the council's hunter associations, “for recognizing their importance in maintaining the ecosystem of interior and desertified areas”.

The cleaning action was promoted by the Federation of Hunters of the Algarve, in partnership with the municipality of Castro-Marine and with the support of the company ALGAR.
