João Pimenta Lopes, PCP deputy in the European Parliament, will be in the Algarve, this Thursday and Friday, April 5th and 6th, for parliamentary days. This initiative intends to contact workers and unions, shellfish collectors, fishermen, producers, taxi drivers and small and medium businessmen.

According to the PCP, "this initiative will address issues related to precariousness, workers' rights and low wages, as well as the problems facing the productive apparatus in the Algarve."

In these days, the PCP delegation will develop meetings, visits and meetings in the councils of Faro, Olhão, Loulé, Silves, Portimão and Lagos.

The PCP highlights, among the initiatives, «contacts with workers at the Airport of Faro, Marshopping and CP, the meeting with taxi drivers, also at the Airport, the visit to the port of Portimão, the meeting with shellfish collectors in Olhão, the visit to the Mercado Abastecedor de Faro – MARF or a visit to a carob processing company in Silves».

The days ended with a debate in Lagos on “Prostitution: a serious form of violence and exploitation”.
