The Speech Therapy sector of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service and the Otorhinolaryngology service of the University Hospital Center of the Algarve (CHUA) mark World Voice Day (16 April) with screenings for voice disorders aimed at the population, in hospitals in Faro and Portimão.

In order to early detect any pathologies or vocal disorders, screenings take place in hospital units of Faro and Portimão, on the 16th, 17th and 18th of April, in the afternoon.

Interested parties must register by April 13th between 8:30 am and 17:30 pm by calling 282 450 343 (Portimão and Faro).

"The initiative aims to raise awareness of the importance of caring for vocal health, assuming an informative and preventive aspect through the distribution of information leaflets with advice on how to maintain a healthy voice," says CHUA.

The voice is an essential working tool for some professional groups that depend on it for their economic survival. Any disturbance in the voice of these professionals causes damage to their personal and professional life, influencing the good performance of their functions, as Sul Informação told in this article.
