The driver of a trailer was seriously injured this afternoon in Via do Infante, after being run over by a light goods vehicle, a GNR source told Sul Informação.
The accident occurred at 16:11 pm, at kilometer 77 of Via do Infante, in the Santa Bárbara de Nexe/Estoi area, towards Faro/Spain.
The same source from the GNR explained that the man was by the side of the road, loading another damaged vehicle onto the tow truck, when he was run over.
The victim, a man of Brazilian nationality and 32 years of age, was transported to the Hospital de Faro.
At this time, more than an hour and a half after the accident, one of the lanes on the A22 is still cut and, although the accident is properly signposted, it is advisable to take extra care when driving in the area.
