The Castro Marim Municipal Swimming Pool has already reopened, after improvement works, and regular activities begin in December.
According to the Chamber of Castro Marim, this pool “was closed as a result of a non-compliance recorded in the periodic analyses, but given the recognition of some constructive weaknesses and problems related to the increasingly frequent use of the facilities, the Castro Marim City Council chose to carry out interventions of various types in the equipment».
In addition to school use (from 4 years old) and the general public (from Monday to Friday, between 10:00 am and 17:00 pm), the Municipal Swimming Pool of Castro Marim will offer activities that seek to cover the various age groups and the interests of the citizens.
For example, “Ao Ritmo dos 60” is intended for the population residing in the municipality, aged over 55, and is free of charge.
The main objective “is to promote health and maintain autonomy during the aging process that increasingly characterizes our population. Currently, the program covers around 120 citizens, organized in classes, depending on their area of residence, since the municipality provides transport for those interested», says the Chamber of Castro Marim.
This initiative takes place on Monday and Wednesday, from 10:30 am to 11:20 am, for inhabitants of Altura, and on Tuesday and Thursday, at the same time, for residents of Odeleite and Azinhal.
The hours from 11:30 am to 12:20 pm are intended, on Mondays and Wednesdays, for inhabitants of Castro Marim, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays for independents.
Another of the pool activities will be the swimming school, which is intended for children over 4 years old, and its main objective is to adapt to the aquatic environment and learn different swimming techniques.
“This activity is considered very beneficial for promoting the physical and emotional development of the child at various levels of their biological development, as well as in the formation of their personality”, says the municipality.
Finally, the “Encontro para Babés” aims to address the lack of a class for babies (from 6 months) and children up to 4 years old, which is why this monthly initiative was developed. Registration is now open.
