The music of Mariza, by Sérgio Godinho, but also the Mediterranean Diet Fair, in Tavira, Ea “Artechique” – Monchique Crafts and Flavors Fair are some of the more than «100 cultural proposals» in the Algarve in September.

The “Guia Algarve”, from the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA), is already on the street with dozens of cultural proposals for those who live in the tourist destination or are visiting for a holiday.

On the 2nd (Saturday), the Largo da Mareta, in Vila do Bispo, will hear the fado sung by the voice of Mariza, at 22:30 pm. And from the Portuguese popular song, made cultural and intangible heritage of humanity by UNESCO, in 2011, we move on to a concert by Sérgio Godinho and Filipe Raposo, at the Albufeira Municipal Auditorium, on the 16th, at 21 pm.

The Portuguese guitar will sound daily (except Fridays and Saturdays) at 12:00, 15:00 and 16:30 at Arco da Vila Interpretive Center, in Faro, until the end of the month. While at Vila Vita Parc (Porches) they will be the strong names of Jazz, drunk e funk to entertain the public at the Algarve Smooth Jazz Festival (27 September to 1 October).

Still in music, the “Verão em Tavira” program continues, with concerts by several Portuguese artists from 1 to 6, in Praça da República, always at 22 pm. The month ends with the sound of the Gulbenkian Orchestra, which will perform works by Mendelsshon, Mozart and Beethoven at Teatro das Figuras, on the 00th, at 30 pm.

In dance, flamenco, singing and dancing will be highlighted at the 16th Festival de Flamenco de Lagos, between the 14th and 16th, at 21 pm, at the Centro Cultural. And in the region's sporting calendar comes the unavoidable Portugal Masters, a tournament that features the best European golfers from 30 to 21, at the Victoria Golf Course, in Vilamoura. For speed lovers, the alternative will be another: the World Superbike Championship, at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, from 24 to 15.

The attention of festival-goers will be turned in September to Festival F, the last major summer festival in the country, and to FIESA – International Sand Sculpture Festival and to the Perceve Festival.

Festival F kicked off this Thursday, August 31st, but it extends until the 2nd on several stages in the historic center of Faro, where nearly 40 national musicians will perform.

«FIESA, being nothing new, will continue to attract dozens of people to Pêra (Silves) until the end of October, motivated by the curiosity to admire the giant sand sculptures that reach twelve meters in height. On the other hand, the Perceve Festival of Vila do Bispo will fill the mouths of visitors with sea flavor between the 8th and the 10th», says the RTA.

Keeping our attention on gastronomy, we'll go to Tavira where, between the 7th and 10th, the Mediterranean Diet Fair will take place, with a producers' market, cooking demonstrations and many activities for the family related to this heritage of humanity.

Days before, between 1 and 3, there will be time to visit Artechique – Monchique Crafts and Flavors Fair, with fairs based in the Chorões square. And well after that, towards the end of the month (September 30th to October 8th), the Algarve program will seat residents and tourists at tables in the restaurants in Quarteira and Vilamoura for Polvo Week.

The “Guia Algarve” also proposes theatre, painting and photography exhibitions, film sessions at the Cineteatro António Pinheiro de Tavira and the Terras do Arade snack route, which challenges people to a gastronomic odyssey through more than 160 restaurants and patisseries in the municipalities of Portimão, Lagoa, Monchique and Silves, from 8 September to 15 October.

The bilingual publication (Portuguese and English) of RTA can be downloaded here, consulted in Algarve Events mobile application or found at tourist offices, airport, hotels, travel agencies, rent-a-car and golf courses in the region, where it is distributed free of charge every month.
