«Castro Marim Primeira» is the name of the movement of José Estevens' candidacy for the Municipality of Castro Marim, in the Municipal Elections of next October.

Estevens was president of that municipality for 16 years, between 1998 and 2013, always elected by the PSD.

In 2013, having reached the three consecutive terms permitted by law, he was unable to run for office again in Castro Marim, giving way to Francisco Amaral, until then president of the neighboring municipality of Alcoutim, who won the elections.

That same year, Estevens ran for the Chamber of Tavira, but was defeated by the socialist Jorge Botelho.

More recently, Estevens starred um iron arm with Francisco Amaral, jthat, being leader of the Municipality of the Castromarinense PSD, he took away his political confidence, because he also intended to be the candidate for the Chamber again.

But National Political Commission of Social Democrats maintained its support for the re-candidacy of the current mayor Francisco Amaral and Estevens ended up by slam the door to his decades-long party in protest. It now appears at the head of this autarchic movement.

In the statement in which he announces his re-candidacy, José Estevens announces that the “Castro Marim Primeiro” Movement was created to “give a voice to citizens who are not satisfied with the way the present of the earth has been written and in the certainty of the need for intervention to achieve the purpose of continuing the peaceful transformation begun in 1998».
