O MED Festival, from June 29th to July 2nd, in Loulé, at night Black & White, on the 17th of June, on Carvoeiro beach, or the traditional popular marches, on the night of Santo António (13th June), São João (24th June) and São Pedro (29 June), in Quarteira, Portimão, Olhos de Água or Messines, are some of the «about 200 cultural proposals, mostly outdoors» for June, which are part of the “Guia Algarve”.

In this Black & White the streets and squares of the center of Carvoeiro, in Lagoa, are invaded by musicians, DJ, performers, street performers… and thousands of fun people. Black and white are mandatory colors and the animation will be constant throughout the night.

As for the MED Festival, it will feature more than 250 musicians, 55 bands from 21 different nationalities and 75 hours of music taking place on nine stages. Ana Moura, Cape Verdean Teté Alhinho, Franco-Algerian Rachid Taha (all on the 29th), Rodrigo Leão, Brazilian BNegão and also Cape Verdean Lura (these on the 30th) are some of the confirmed artists.

This monthly publication, by the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA), also includes the concert by Elza Soares, on the 14th, at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro.

On the 3rd, at the Centro Cultural de Lagos, one of the most popular Argentine tango groups takes the stage: La Porteña Tango Trio & Eugenia Giordano, which present the show “Danzarin”, a junction between scenic tango and lounge tango.

The Gift, on the 1st, in São Brás de Alportel, Lena d'Água, in Messines, on the 3rd of June, Luís Represas, on the 9th and 10th, at the Vilamoura Casino, Dulce Pontes, in Albufeira, on the 10th, and Marco Paulo, on June 16, in Olhão, also pass through the region in June.

And anyone who is a fan of popular marches also has proposals in Martim Longo, Faro or Tavira. In addition to music, there are suggestions for theatre, exhibitions, dance, sports, parties and festivals, fairs and markets (including the flea market), such as the Alcoutim Handicraft and Ethnography Fair, which will take place on the river beach at the weekend of 10 and 11.

This June “Guia Algarve” has a bilingual edition (Portuguese and English) and a circulation of 70 thousand copies.

The publication is distributed free of charge at tourist offices at the airport of Faro, in hotels, travel agencies, rent-a-car and golf courses in the region and can be downloaded here
