The Municipality of Olhão is investing 200 euros in the refurbishment of two playgrounds in the municipality and in the construction of two new infrastructures to accommodate the children's games, at Quinta João de Ourém and at the Pinheiros de Marim Maintenance Circuit.
On Saturday, the 20th of May, the Fuzeta children's playground was inaugurated, after a "profound intervention", and the park in Bairro 28 de Setembro is also being reclassified, according to the Municipality of Olhão.
Fuzeta's children's playground is located next to the pier of this location in the municipality of Olhão, and after renovation, it maintains «the play and recreation area, in order to ensure the same number of previously existing equipment and guarantee the child safety area'.
«The old equipment, which no longer offered safety conditions, were replaced by a swing, a spring, a multi-function structure and a double-spring swing», according to the municipality.
On the 1st of June, Children's Day, the playground of Bairro 28 de Setembro will be reopened. Here, the City Council opted to remove the existing sand in the game and recreational area and part of the red concrete slabs area, «in order to enlarge the respective game area».
«In terms of urban furniture, a wooden pergola was installed, to provide shade, and a set of tables and chairs. With regard to recreational equipment, the little ones will now have a swing, a multi-purpose game consisting of a tower and a slide and a swing with springs for four children», described the municipality.
Meanwhile, two new spaces for play are already under construction, whose inauguration should take place on June 16, City Day.
The playground of Quinta João de Ourém will be located at the Escola Professor Paula Nogueira and the urbanization located at the exit from Olhão to Pechão. Among the facilities it will offer are «a space for games and recreation, which aims to meet the needs that have existed until now in that area in terms of children's spaces». «The children's equipment, with contemporary lines, includes a multifunctional structure, an individual spring, a 3-post oscillating spring, a swing and a slide», according to the municipality.
«In the area surrounding the game and recreation space, an obstacle-free pedestrian area was introduced, in order to facilitate the movement of all users, particularly those with limited mobility. In order to make the equipment more pleasant, several trees were also planted and concrete benches were introduced», he added.
The new playground of the Pinheiros de Marim Maintenance Circuit, which will also be built from scratch, «includes two distinct spaces, intended for the enjoyment of children of different ages» and will be equipped «with a swing, three springs, one triple spring and two multi-purpose structures for different ages».
«Throughout this term, we have taken giant steps towards providing Olhão with spaces, new or re-qualified, that provide Olhão residents with the well-being and quality of life they deserve. This set of works, both in the county's playgrounds and in the Pinheiros de Marim Maintenance Circuit itself, is another stage of this path, which we intend to continue on. Our children deserve to have decent leisure spaces, where they can have fun in safety», considered the mayor of Olhão, António Pina, during the inauguration of the Fuzeta playground.
