Sample, the second in a series of exhibitions that the Porto Museum will bring to the Algarve, as part of the adhesion of the Faro municipality to the Council of Founders of the Serralves Foundation, will open on the 9th at 19 pm.

«From one side to the other» presents fifteen works, including sculptures, drawings and engravings, «covering the most relevant periods of the career of José Pedro Croft (Porto, 1957) belonging to the Serralves Foundation Collection and highlighting the main concerns and artist's methodologies”, according to the Serralves Foundation. The exhibition is organized according to four central themes: Monument and Death; Domesticity and Furniture; Mirrors and Glass; Drawing and Engraving.

«With an artistic career that began in the 1980s, Croft is one of the contemporary sculptors most concerned with a critical approach to the idea of monumentality, the tradition of statuary and the relationship between art and architecture. During her visit to the Algarve's capital, in December, Ana Pinho stressed that “one of Serralves' missions is to bring contemporary art to everyone in the country”. «That is why, for us, this moment of approximation and partnership with Faro it's an honor. We are very excited about it as Faro it is a very important municipality, where we will be happy to be able to develop our activity», he said.

The foundation's president also anticipated the exhibition that will open this week, saying she believes “it will attract a lot of Portuguese and foreign audiences, as he is a well-known artist, also outside Portugal, and because he will represent Portugal at the Venice Biennale. important contemporary art event worldwide».
