Six entrepreneurs from the Algarve spent an entire afternoon inspiring around 250 people, mostly young students, who filled the amphitheater of the Superior School of Hotel and Tourism Management at the University of Algarve, in Faro, at the seminar “Strategies that Score 6”.

The young businessman from Faro, Ricardo Mariano, founder of Timing, temporary work company, and owner of three other companies (pens.pt, USBSPOT and pinayas), spoke of his personal journey and how opportunities and ideas for his business were emerging.

Timing, which is one of the biggest employers in the Algarve, is expanding, with Ricardo Mariano even announcing the opening within a few days of the first «Timing Café», in Quarteira, his first adventure in the world of restaurants, as well as a business. with his Sport Lisboa e Benfica.

Carlos Fernandes, one of the owners of modest house, a rural tourism unit located in Quatrim do Sul (Olhão), whose architectural project is now a finalist in the awards Architizer A+ Awards in the category of Hotels & Resorts, told how he left the world of aeronautics and aircraft to dedicate himself to this family project, which has won other awards and several awards for quality.

Angela Martins, founder of empower you, consulting company in Hospitality Management, Marketing and Branding and Catering and Events, infected the audience, made up mainly of young students from the hotel, management and marketing courses, with his enthusiastic way of speaking. And he reminded the young people that "companies no longer just hire people with a course", they are looking for other things, such as "emotional intelligence". "It is necessary to work the heart", he stressed.

Already working with some of the biggest hotel groups in the Algarve, Ângela Martins shared her joy at having, as her most recent client, «Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort», the first hotel of the international group Anantara in Europe, which will open on the 1st of April. In addition to being an important customer, Anantara opens in the former Tivoli Victoria, property that the businesswoman knows “inside and out”, for having been its director.

The second panel started with Sandra Correia, the founder of Pelcor company, which took a new product, based on local tradition and the family business, cork, as far as the MOMA store in New York or a store in Shanghai, China. But Sandra Correia sold Pelcor last year to an Angolan businessman, and now, as she cannot be quiet, she wants to "help people" with her vast experience.

As Ângela Martins had already done, Sandra Correia also defended that, more important than the money to put a project on its feet, is the «passion». «The money is what matters least, you have to believe in the product».

And because Sandra Correia continues to believe that women entrepreneurs in the Algarve do not have a place to meet and exchange ideas – «the networking is fundamental in today's world», he underlined -, he created the project Women's Club, which has a page on the Facebook, where the meetings are announced and it is open to all.

This was followed by João Jesus, who presented his project, already awarded, from startup cuckoo, which was once considered one of the top 8 Apps of Europe and that Forbes magazine considered as a startup to “keep an eye on”.

The seminar ended with a dose of energy and good spirits, with the presentation of Dário Guerreiro – the Môce du Cabreste, who, with his accent from Portimo, made the whole audience laugh, even though he was talking about serious things.

This sixth edition of the seminar «Strategies that Make a Mark», organized by the professors of the Marketing nucleus of ESGHT, and which once again had the media partnership of Sul Informação, highlighted a social cause, the Algarve Refood project, considered as “a good example of social entrepreneurship”.
