Joao Correia, the owner of the affected property, revealed to the Sul Informação that the accident “destroyed windows, doors on the ground floor, a cornice and some material inside”.

This Thursday morning, the final section of Rua 18 de Junho, before reaching Avenida da República, was still closed to traffic, as the debris still piled up in the middle of the street. as the Sul Informação advanced, the warning of the imminent fall of the building was given last night, with the Firefighters of Olhão and the PSP sealing the area, removing all cars and people from risk zones, which avoided greater harm. After a few hours, one of the building's facades it really ended up collapsing, with apparatus.

During the fall, as you can see in the video that our newspaper published, the debris eventually reached the building opposite, which was uninhabited but not abandoned. “Downstairs, it's a family warehouse, where we store material. I'm recovering the first floor, to create a local accommodation there», explained João Correia.

This owner has already got in touch with the Municipality of Olhão, since the mayor of the municipality António Pina was there last night. "They told me that I have to ask for quotes, take photographs and hire a lawyer," he revealed, resigned.

The owner of the affected building added that he does not know the owners of the partially collapsed building. I had never contacted them before or made any complaint, even because “I didn't imagine that this could come down. I knew it was degraded, but that it would fall like that…».
