antique-cafe-mourao_olhao-a-ruir_1The building where, until a few years ago, a hardware and household appliance house operated, next to the former Café Mourão, at the confluence of Rua 18 de Junho and Avenida da República, in Olhão, is on the verge of collapse.

The Fire Department of Olhão and PSP created a security perimeter around the building, this Wednesday night, due to the appearance of cracks in the structure of the building and landslides on the public road.

Like Sul Informação he was able to verify, on the spot, that the building – which is vacant and uninhabited and had already suffered small collapses before – is in structural failure and residents of the area assured that the roof will already have collapsed in several points. The strong risk of the building collapsing at any moment has already led to the power cut in the building block and adjacent ones.

The building at risk, as well as the one that is twinned with it, where the Café Mourão used to work (where a fire has already broken out), will be close to a hundred years old.
