The various works on the water supply system at São Bartolomeu de Messines, such as the improvement of the pumping system at Monte de São José, or the construction of a new system of this type at Quinta dos Orégãos, are progressing «at a good pace» , according to information given today by the Chamber of Silves.
This contract, which has an estimated execution period of 8 months, at an investment of around 600 thousand euros, also includes «the construction of a new pipeline, in ductile iron, parallel to the existing one, in the section that extends between Monte de São José, Quinta dos Orégãos and Monte Boi, both being connected by bypass, and the construction of two new water tanks of 700 cubic meters each, which will double the existing capacity», explains the City Council of Silves.
The execution of this investment "by eliminating obsolete infrastructure with several decades of operation, which caused constant disruptions, will stabilize and strengthen the water supply capacity to the parish of São Bartolomeu de Messines, and if necessary, to the parish of Silves itself." concludes the municipality of Silvense.
