Academic works inspired by the Querença Project, carried out between 2013 and 2016, will be presented at a conference that will take place on November 25, from 9:30 am, in the auditorium of the Manuel Viegas Guerreiro Foundation, in the village in the interior of the municipality of Loulé. name to the initiative.

At this event, the results of two master's degrees, one from the University of Algarve and the other from the University of Rio de Janeiro, a doctorate and a post-doctorate from the University of Vale de Itajaí, Santa Catarina, in Brazil, will be announced.

The different theses look at the Querença Project as a «case study in the area of ​​dynamization of low-density territories and the need to involve communities in this process», according to those responsible for the Algarve project, who highlight the fact that more than one of the works have been done by foreign investigators.

«A team of professors from the University of Vale de Itajaí will present the results of their work, the University of Algarve will present a reflection on this theme and the entire Querença Project team will be present to present the ongoing projects. The initiative also has the presence of the assistant coordinator of the Mission Unit for the Valorization of Low Density Territories, who will present the national strategy and some of the Government's measures for these regions», added the Querença Project.

In addition to making known the results of the studies, the conference will serve “to promote a reflection on the valorization of the resources of the interior and the ways to make this territory more dynamic”.

The event will also be used to present the results of the QRER Cooperative, an organization created in 2016 that «gathers elements of the Querença Project, supporters and friends, and aims to develop actions around the interior of the Algarve».

The initiative is organized by QRER, with the support of the Municipality of Loulé and the Union of Parishes of Querença, Tor and Benafim and the partnership of the University of Algarve, University of Vale de Itajaí. It also has the collaboration of several private partners.
