The XVII Chapter and XII Grand Chapter of the Confraria dos Gastronomos do Algarve, which will feature the insignia of new Confrères of Honor, Merit and Effective, will take place on Saturday, October 8, at the Salão Nobre of the Paços do Concelho de Portimao.
This initiative, which has the support of the municipality of Portimo, will bring together around 180 confreres from Portugal, Spain, France and Belgium, as well as representatives of the National Federation of Gastronomic Confraternities and the CEUCO – European Council of Confraternities.
At 10:00 am, the Mayor of Portimão Isilda Gomes and the Grand Master of the Confraria José Manuel Alves will be welcomed, followed by the officialization of the twinning between the Brotherhoods of the Salmorejo Cordobes and of Gastronomers of the Algarve.
At 11:15 am, from the Paços do Concelho building to the Igreja do Colégio, the parade of the Confraternity will begin, through the streets of Portimão, accompanied by the Sociedade Filarmónica Portimonense. At 11 am there will be the blessing of the Insignia, by Father Mário Sousa, confrere of Honor of the Confraria dos Gastronomos do Algarve, and the Enthronement Ceremony.
The Chapter Lunch is open to the general population and takes place at 13:15 pm in a room of the restaurant «Retiro do Peixe Assado». To participate, registration is required, which can be done by email [email protected] or by phone 960 064 967.
This lunch will have moments of music with the fado singer Raquel Peters, accompanied on guitar by Vítor do Carmo.
The Confraria dos Gastronomos do Algarve is a member of CEUCO – European Council of Confraternity, of the Portuguese Federation of Gastronomic Confraternity and also of the Association of Confraternity of the Cistercian Route.

9:30 am – Welcome breakfast at foyer the Portimão City Council;
10:00 am – Reception and welcome by the Mayor of Portimão Isilda Gomes and the Grand Master of the Confraria José Manuel Alves;
10:30 am – Twinning between the Confraternities of the Salmorejo Cordobes and of Gastronomers of the Algarve;
10:45 am – Delivery of souvenirs by the presidents of the Municipality and Confraternity;
11:15 am – Departure to the Church of S. Francisco Xavier or the Colégio. Parade of the Confrarias, on the streets of Portimão, accompanied by the Sociedade Filarmónica Portimonense;
11:30 am – Blessing of the Insignia by Father Mário Sousa. Enthronement Ceremony;
13:00 – Family Photo;
13:15 pm – Chapter lunch. Animation with fado singer Raquel Peters, accompanied on guitar by Vítor do Carmo;
