The requalification works of Quatro Águas de Tavira and the river front between Pedras d'el Rei and Santa Luzia will be officially inaugurated on Wednesday, 20 July.

The Environment Minister comes to Tavira to mark the conclusion of the interventions that were carried out in these two areas of the county, closely linked to tourism, carried out under the Polis Litoral Ria Formosa Program.

The works themselves have already been completed and the new equipment created, which include renovated parking areas, reclassified squares and improved accessibility, are already in use by the local population and visitors, but only now will the official opening act.

In the case of Quatro Águas, has been reclassified the area that surrounds the departure pier for Ilha de Tavira, improved road access to this area and restructured the parking area that already existed next to the Clube Náutico de Tavira. The intervention also allowed for the recovery of the banks and slopes, which were at risk of collapsing.

The work was awarded in November 2014, took about a year to be completed and cost around 2,3 million euros.

On the road between the tourist development of Pedras d'el Rei and the fishing village of Santa Luzia, a bike path was created, more parking and walking and leisure areas. The work cost around 673 euros and began in March 2015.
