Festival of the SardineMusic shows, markets, fairs, sporting events, entertainment on the beaches, initiatives for the youngest, among many other outdoor proposals, always with Portimão by the river, by the river or by the sea as a privileged stage. This is the summary of this summer's program in Portimão, which concentrates more than 100 events to see and experience the county in full, from July to the end of September.

This is an eclectic program for the station, with initiatives aimed at all tastes and any age group. A renewed offer adapted to everyone, with initiatives that are already trademarks of the Portimonense summer: Book Fair, Portimão Wine Tasting, F1 World Championship in Motornautics, Festival da Sardinha, the play “Noivo por Acaso”, with Fernando Mendes, Neon Run, Stock Fair, Summer Experience Portimão, FIM CEV Repsol International Championship, among others.

The month of July will be characterized by some unique moments, the first of which between the 22nd and 24th of July with Portimão Wine Tasting, at Fortaleza de Santa Catarina, in Praia da Rocha. Three days of experiences, tasting of local crops and tasting of regional products.

On the 30th and 31st of July, the magic of high speed returns to Portimão with the F1 World Championship in Power Boating. The estuary of the Arade river was the scene of 13 Formula 1 motorboats, between 1999 and 2011, and in July the return of the great figures of the sport to the waters of Portimão is guaranteed.

 

 

The Sports Area of ​​Praia da Rocha, open since the 1st of July, has in its space the practice of numerous sports, so that everyone maintains good physical shape throughout the summer. Until September 9th, there are regular activities with monitors to “keep in shape at the beach”. From the 22nd to the 24th of July, the Municipal Tennis Complex of Portimão will stage two summer tournaments day and night with young people and veterans.

Not to be missed in Portimão are the walks along the river and the sea and the possibility of walking, jogging or cycling in communion with nature. Proof that outdoor living is one of the most important advantages that Portimão has to offer is the new 6 km long walkway at Praia de Alvor, one of the novelties this summer.

With regard to culture, from the 14th of July to the 21st of August, the Zona Ribeirinha of Portimão, a privileged space in the city, will host the 59th Book Fair, which this year has a program with around 28 writers in its entirety.

This area also invites pleasant walks to listen to different styles of music, with emphasis on Portuguese popular music, Brazilian music, blues and fado in the initiative “Música no Coreto”, every Friday at 21 pm in July and August. For those who like to dance and listen to popular music, Saturdays in July are marked by the fairs and balls in the Antiga Lota de Portimão.

The summer in Portimão also has a “P” of heritage with the Cultural Night Tours, and on July 23, at 21 pm, the cultural riches of downtown Portimão will be shown on a tour in search of urban landscapes that characterize and give personality to the city. heart of the city.

By the river and with the best view over the city, the Ferris Wheel and the Magic Carousel are two good attractions that deserve a photographic record to remember later.

There is summer at Alameda da Praça da República and in the city center outdoors and with free entry, there are several shows scheduled as part of the celebrations of the Centenary of the Parish of Portimão. After the huge success of the concert with Rita Guerra, on July 30th, at 21 pm, the 30th Alvor Acoustic Festival will follow, where national music will be heard, with names such as Reflect, Staccatolimão, Nuno Barrosos and Volume D8is.

On the 20th of August, at 21 pm, the sounds will be different and the “João César Trophy” returns to Alameda. On September 30, from 17 pm, there will also be a Fashion Show, (adults, children, brides) that closes the commemorations of the parish's centenary.

Also in July and until 31 August, the 500 Years Celebrations of the Igreja Matriz in Alvor stand out, with several actions in the village, in a program that celebrates the cultural, social and religious importance of a temple that the “children of Alvor ”, left as an inheritance.

This fishing village has a hat-tricks Islamic legacy and on the 13th of August, at 21 pm, the last Cultural Night Tour will take place. The invitation is made to residents and tourists to discover the Islamic Heritage of Alvor.

August begins with one of the most unavoidable gastronomic events in the country, the Sardine Festival, which, between 3 and 7, celebrates its main gastronomic icon. Throughout the city, the atmosphere will be festive, combined with the aroma of traditional sardines that promises to whet everyone's appetite.

Entertainment will be a constant downtown, with handicrafts, sweets, street entertainment and various sounds ranging from folklore to Portuguese music, always bearing in mind the good grilled sardines. The access is open and free. From the delicious grilled sardines to the most varied moments of music and entertainment, the fun is for the whole family.

Deolinda, Carolina Deslandes, Carminho, Herman José and the Quarteto Manuela Lopes Accordion Orchestra are the musical poster proposals for the five nights of Portimão's Sardine Festival.

Summer in Portimão has humor and, from August 4th to 28th, Fernando Mendes is back at TEMPO – Teatro Municipal de Portimão, with the show “Noivo por Acaso”, in a total of 16 shows. After the seasons in Lisbon and Porto, it is time for Fernando Mendes, Carla Andrino, Jorge Mourato and Patrícia Tavares to take the stage in this room in the city of Portimão.

On August 13, Neon Run, the craziest night race in Portugal, arrives in Portimão, challenging everyone to run, walk and light up the city.

On the 5th, 6th and 7th of August, Portimão Arena will once again receive a Stocks Fair where it will be possible to purchase several national and international brands of clothing, footwear and fashion accessories at bargain prices.

Counting down is one of the great summer night spots in Portimão, this year called “Summer Experience Portimão”, which will gather on the beach of Praia da Rocha, between the 29th of July and the 27th of August, daily parties with glamorous, refinement and fun.

The poster promises to be an experience not to be missed, ranging from the Battle Royal – Color Battle with 1500 liters of paint, Pete Thaz Ouk, Carlos Manaça, Osmani Garcia, Charly Black and many more.

For speed lovers, the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve hosts, from the 27th to the 28th of August, the FIM CEV Repsol International Championship and the Junior World Championship.

In September, the summer in Portimão has a gastronomic record and, from September 9th to October 9th, the 6th edition of Rota do Petisco promises, once again, to take people out into the street to taste the traditional Algarve snacks.

Later this month, Figueira will be the center of the 14th edition of the Festival do Berbigão, with gastronomic proposals based on this bivalve, accompanied by a program of local entertainment.

At the Municipal Aerodrome, there will be another edition of the “Autumn Boogie” Skydiving Festival, which attracts around 300 European skydivers to Portimão for a month.
