imageThe athlete from Lagos Pedro Martins is leaving for Rio de Janeiro, where he will compete in the Olympic Games, and the Câmara de Lagoa has already wished him good luck. This will be the second participation of the badminton athlete in the Olympics, after having been present in the 2012 edition in London.

The headquarters of ACD Che Lagoense was the stage for the athlete to say goodbye, which was attended by members of the club, the Chamber and Pedro Martins' coaches. Chamber president Francisco Martins expressed his optimism regarding the athlete's participation: “I believe that Pedro Martins will bring to Lagoa the Olympic medal in badminton”.

The president of ACD Che Lagoense, the club where Pedro Martins plays, expressed his gratitude to the City Council, saying that “Without his support from the first moment, Pedro's dream would not be a reality, considering not only the costs of direct participation, but also those of conquering presence, obtained through participation in many competitions held around the world”.

Professional since 2005, Pedro Martins now faces one of the biggest challenges of the career. The athlete said he felt recognized for having believed in him and his value, adding that it was not easy to reach this point in his career.
