Pedro Martins, from CHE Lagoense, guaranteed this Sunday the qualification in the badminton modality for the Rio2016 Olympic Games. The Algarve was also joined by Telma Santos in this sport and in women's, thus repeating the pair that had already been present at the London Olympics in 2012.
The two athletes have had their names confirmed with the update of the International Badminton Federation's first qualifying list.
With the qualification for badminton, Portugal guarantees the presence of at least 68 athletes in Rio2016 (there are still modalities with qualification in progress), in 12 modalities. The Portuguese delegation had already ensured its presence in athletics, canoeing, cycling, equestrian, football, gymnastics, swimming, taekwondo, table tennis, shooting and sailing.
