Rectification to the Municipal Budget of Faro, in order to include a management balance of 5,5 million euros, around 4,3 million of which will be earmarked for investment, will be (finally) voted on at Monday's Chamber Meeting at 15 pm, and all aims for it to be unanimously approved.
The opposition had asked, about a week ago, time to study the permanent executive's proposal, in a minority both in the Chamber and in the Municipal Assembly, and to propose amendments. Yesterday, Monday, opposition councilors met for several hours with the local authority's technical services and suggested changes to the initial proposal, which will now be explained in a final document.
Thus, in addition to the measures that had already been announced by the executive on May 24th, others were added, namely the amortization of one million euros of the loan made to the State, under the Local Economy Support Plan and the acquisition, by the municipality, of degraded properties, for recovery and inclusion in the municipality's housing stock , with a view to its use for social action purposes.
According to the president of the Chamber of Faro, Rogério Bacalhau, the PAEL amortization proposal was made by the PS and the property acquisition proposal by CDU. “I met yesterday with the opposition councilors, who gave me some clues. Somehow I agreed with the situation and asked for a proposal to be drawn up based on it», revealed the Farense mayor, in an interview with Sul Informação and to Rádio Universitária do Algarve, which can be heard in its entirety this Wednesday, at 19 pm, on 00 FM.
In reaction to the news of the Sul Informação, the PS councilors in the Chamber of Faro they refuse to have proposed the abatement of one million from the PAEL, adding that they only proposed “the applicability of social subdivisions in Estoi, Braciais and Montenegro, in addition to the rehabilitation of housing fires and recovery of the athletics track”.
And as the money doesn't stretch, the idea is that the planned works, namely those of the Faro Requalifies 2 and interventions in municipal buildings, can “stretch”, so that they are, in part, implemented in 2017 and budgeted for next year, something that, according to the PS, “was going to happen anyway”.
The vote on the proposal and, taking into account the statements of the councilors of the different parties, the unanimous approval, only did not happen at the Chamber Meeting this Tuesday because it was not possible to write a final document, with the changes agreed to yesterday at the end of the day. Thus, the decision was again postponed.
