Faro_01The Budget Review that the Chamber of Faro takes on Monday, the 30th, to the Chamber meeting, for debate and eventual approval, includes investments of 4,3 million euros.

According to the local authority, and as revealed this afternoon at a press conference, a decisive investment is expected in the improvement of the road network and public facilities, as well as the recovery of the school and sports facilities, the duplication of support for associations and boards of parish.

This Budget Review still has to be approved at a Chamber meeting, where the executive led by Rogério Bacalhau (PSD) does not have a majority. If it passes this first instance, it will then have to be debated in the Municipal Assembly, where the same issue of lack of majority in the coalition led by the Social Democrats will arise.

So what are the planned investments?

Faro Requalify:

After the success of the 1st program, the Faro Requalifica 2 will allow us to continue to improve circulation and comfort conditions in some of the most important arteries of the city and parishes.

This time, the Municipality's global investment will be twice as high and will reach 2 million euros – it is the most important investment made in recent years in the recovery of the municipality's road network.

Recovery of Public Infrastructure and Equipment:

The Chamber of Faro considers that “investing in schools is the priority. But it is important, in a young city, to recover the functionality of the existing sports park: pavilions, swimming pools, leisure areas, playgrounds and others».

In addition, the municipality proposes to «return dignity and cleanliness to urbanizations, public spaces and recreate green areas worthy of a capital».

All together, the Municipality will invest around 1,65 million in these interventions.

Commitment to Commerce:

«The success of the bet on the traditional trade of Faro it is complex and depends on a multitude of factors in which the measures now proposed will be a relevant part. The initiative to preserve traditional commerce has a transversal consensus and deserves no objection from anyone. In addition to this convergence, it is important to underline the adhesion and commitment of traders through representative associations», stresses the Chamber of Faro.

The investment will be around 250 thousand euros.

Support for Associations

The City Council of Faro intends to implement a support program for associations, which will allow for a budget of around 600 thousand euros to be directed to social, cultural, sports and youth support associations (the increase is 300 thousand), more than double the one-off support taken up in the year past.

 

Support to Parish Councils

Considered as important elements of the administrative organization of the State, given their proximity to citizens and the deep knowledge of the realities and dynamics of their daily lives, parishes have attributions and competences in quite diversified domains and play a decisive role in the pursuit of their own interests. of the respective populations.

The City Council of Faro has been providing financial support to Parish Councils, as they do not always have sufficient means to carry out the activities that are essential to the fulfillment of their mission.

This year, the investment will double and will be fixed at 240.000 euros (the reinforcement is 120 thousand), mainly destined to the repair of paths.
