Archaeological research carried out in the territory of Vila do Bispo (by Nuno Ferreira Bicho, researcher at the University of Algarve), the Life Charcos Project (Margarida Cristo, University of Algarve), Geology and Paleontology (Beatriz Tomás Oliveira), Underwater Archeology (Jorge Russo, Naval Research Center) and the Historical and Cultural Heritage (Artur de Jesus, Vila do Bispo City Council) were the R&D projects that the council presented yesterday, the 24th, to the academic community of Braga.
The meeting ended with the presentation of the potential of Vila do Bispo, in the most varied aspects, by the mayor Adelino Soares, who led the delegation of researchers to the Minho capital.
The presentation of the R&D projects of that Algarve municipality was made during a seminar that took place at the UM-Cidades facilities, at the University of Minho, Campus de Braga, at the invitation of the president of that body, Paulo Cruz, following the Municipality of the Year Award 2015 assigned to Vila do Bispo.
The same projects had already been presented in January, at the seminar “Potentials of a Municipality – Vila do Bispo in a single day”, organized by the Vila-Bispense City Council, with the presence of the Secretary of State for the Environment and representatives of the University of Minho.
The session in Braga had the participation of «an important number of university students, national and foreign, in the field of education, who also showed interest in the tourist routes of our county», stresses the municipality.
