InternetThe Algarve is the region of the country where there are more people regularly accessing the internet. In a study by the Communication Regulatory Authority (ERC), 72% of respondents in the Algarve region said they accessed the Internet at least once a week, numbers well above the national average of 60,5%.

According to this study entitled “The new dynamics of audiovisual consumption in Portugal”, if the Algarve is the region with the most Internet users, the North is the region with the least, where only 53,3% of respondents regularly access the Internet.

Alentejo has slightly higher numbers, but not much, with an internet usage rate of 58,2%.

The Centro region comes in third place with 60,1% and the Lisbon region is behind the Algarve, with 67,9% of regular internet users.

As part of this study, journalists from Sul Informação were invited by RTP and Antena 1 to give their opinion on the numbers in the Algarve region. Here you can listen to Mário Antunes' report for Antena 1, from the 26th minute and here Duarte Baltazar's report for Portugal is available in Direto, on RTP 1, from minute 11.
