"There is a commitment" from the Secretary of State for Tourism that payments to Tourism Regions, within the scope of State transfers, will be made quickly and "in order not to harm the activity of the respective entities, so that they do not have to to dispense with the correct and opportune exercise of its competences».

The guarantee is given by PS/Algarve in a press release, which also reinforces the guarantee that had already been given to the Sul Informação by the Secretary of State for Tourism Ana Mendes Godinho, that RT's budget would be maintained, despite the cuts foreseen in the State Budget, and would even “increase slightly”, thanks to an additional budget that will be channeled through Turismo de Portugal. Altogether, they will be destined to the entities responsible for the tourist promotion of the respective regions «19,9 million euros, a value higher than that registered in recent years by the PPD/PSD-CDS/PP Government».

Of this amount, 16,4 million euros are enshrined in the State Budget and will be "in addition to 3,5 million in budget changes and transfers".

A situation that, considers the PS/Algarve, in a note signed by its president António Eusébio, represents an improvement in relation to the past. "The financing regulation (REGFIN) to be in force in 2016 is the same as in previous years, and contrary to what was done by the previous Government, which by delaying the payments due inflicted great difficulties in the management of Regional Tourism Entities ", he said.

«We cannot understand the criticism and inconsistency of Mr Cristóvão Norte (PP/PSD), as in the previous Legislature, he was never concerned about these matters, implying that in recent years he was not, nor was he, a Member of the Assembly of the Republic», accused the member of the PS elected by Algarve.

«Tourism has been the engine of the economy, particularly in the export of goods and services, one cannot disarm, who has the role of structuring products, creating brands and carrying out promotion, especially in the Algarve, the region that contributes the most to the country's GDP», added António Eusébio.
