A 36-year-old Spanish man, who was aboard the Spanish fishing vessel, Hermanos Caparros Hernández, sailing 120 miles west of Sagres, was evacuated by an Air Force helicopter due to a broken foot.
Due to the fracture, INEM's CODU-Mar assessed the situation “as there is a need for medical evacuation. After this information, the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center requested the activation of an aerial means to carry out the evacuation», informed the Navy.
The Air Force EH-101 helicopter that rescued the crew, landed at Figo Maduro airport at 12:00. Waiting at the airport was an INEM ambulance that sent the patient to the hospital in Santa Maria.
