Loulé City Council - CMLoulé - MiraThe Loulé Council will reduce the tax burden on the municipality's residents in 2016. In addition to lowering the amount of the Municipal Property Tax (IMI) for buildings assessed by CIMI and within the municipality, additionally reducing the amount charged to families with children, the Loulé local authority will also charge less income tax.

The IMI will "suffer a reduction of more than 2,5% compared to the value of 2013", going to 0,38% for urban properties evaluated under the terms of the CIMI, according to the City Council of Loulé. In the two-year term of the current executive, led by socialist Vítor Aleixo, this tax was reduced “by 5%”.

At the same time, and «with a view to combating desertification in the interior areas», the parishes of Alte, Ameixial, Salir and União de Freguesias de Querença, Tôr and Benafim will have a reduced rate of 30% of IMI.

«On the other hand, the Municipality of Loulé will reduce the IMI rate in the Municipality of Loulé, in 2016, in the case of families with children, with property intended for permanent housing: 10%, 15% and 20% depending on the existence of a , two or three dependents, respectively”, added the municipality.

In this case, the Chamber takes advantage of a possibility opened by the 2015 State Budget, which allows municipalities to partially reduce the amount of this tax, when it comes to households with dependents.

Another benefit that will be given to the residents of Loulé is the partial return of the municipal participation in the IRS of taxable persons with tax domicile in the Municipality, "as a way of compensating the losses of the citizens due to the application of the surcharge by the Government". «Thus, while the application of this surcharge lasts, the municipality of Loulé will reduce the IRS rate by 1%, setting it at 4%, thus dispensing with 20% of the value that the Municipality has in the IRS of each of its residents ».

The councils are entitled to 5% of the discounts made by taxpayers living in their territory, an amount which they can, under normal conditions, waive.

This tax reduction is possible, emphasizes the Loulé Council, due to the early payment of the loan made under the PAEL, in 2014. One of the rules for those who are benefiting from this financial rescue measure is to keep all taxes at maximum amounts. .

"The effort to contain expenditure and the favorable evolution of revenue allow the recovery of municipal autonomy in the area of taxation and thus gradually reduce the rates of municipal taxes", underlined the government of Loulé, adding that this initiative is based on "a logic of support for people and families».
