Antonio Zambujo_2The Portimão Sardine Festival, which started with a flood caused by Tony Carreira, is today in danger of closing with a new flood, due to the concert by António Zambujo.

But the real star of the festival is the sardine, which even has a special price at the restaurants on the city's riverside that are part of the initiative.

Admission is free and there is a “festival dish”, consisting of a slice of bread, four sardines, baked potatoes and Algarvian salad, which can be purchased at participating restaurants at a “special price” during the five days.

Anyone who likes to eat this delicacy from the sea on their plate, can purchase it at the restaurants À Ravessa, Meco, Peixarada, Forte e Feio, Zizá and Retiro do Peixe Assado.

For those who like more to eat only on bread, there are points of sale run by the local associations GEJUPCE and Boa Esperança next to the old market.

And since the festival visitor doesn't live only from sardines, there is an area for the exhibition and sale of regional arts and flavors in the open air, between Jardim Bivar and Antiga Lota, in which it is possible to purchase handicrafts, jewelry, medronho brandy, sweets, snacks and many other products.

The music is also played in the bandstand, between 19:30 pm and 21:30 pm, today, the last day of the Sardine Festival, with Projectus Seven (song from the 70s).
