Praia_da_LuzThe six bathing areas in the municipality of Lagos that are part of the “Microbiological Analysis of Beach Sands” project all present “good results”, announced the Lacobrigense City Council.

This project, initially promoted by the Blue Flag Association of Europe, and which the municipality decided to continue, involves harvesting the sands of the six bathing areas of the municipality (Meia Praia, Praia da Batata, Porto de Mós, Praia D. Ana , Camilo and Praia da Luz), carried out by technicians from the municipality and sent to the National Institute of Health Dr. Ricardo Jorge, for bacteriological and mycological analyses.

This year, and during the summer, three samplings were agreed with the Institute: on May 13th, July 28th and September 08th.

The results now known and obtained in the first two analyzes (May and July) are quite satisfactory since the samples analyzed proved to be of good quality in terms of bacteria, with values far below those recommended for the presence of fungi.

In the first analysis (May), the collection of the sands of Praia da D. Ana was not carried out, due to the work that, in this period, was still ongoing. However, in the analyzes carried out in July, these sands were already included, having presented good results.
