Cyneticum Lisbon ConcertThe concert "Cyneticum - Myth of the Algarve Ensemble" will take place in the gardens of the Gulbenkian Foundation, in Lisbon, on Sunday, June 21, between 18:00 and 20:00.

This is an event promoted by the project “Próximo Futuro”, from the Gulbenkian Foundation, under the musical direction of the Algarve accordionist João Frade who, in 2002, at just 19 years of age, was world champion in the category Variety.

This project, created in 2009, aims to boost contemporary culture, highlighting the relationship between contemporary production and creation in cities in Africa, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Its two axes of work are, on the one hand, research and theoretical production, and, on the other, artistic production and programming, giving visibility to actors from these cultural regions.

At the invitation of João Frade, they participate in cyneticum the following musicians, recognized in Algarve music for their credits and talents: Carlos Garcia, pianist and orchestrator of this project, Emanuel Marçal on accordion, Paulo Machado, bassist for the band Marenostrum, who is in charge of the “fretless” bass at this event. accordion and electronics, João Filipe Guerreiro, vice-champion of the accordion world in 2014, in the category Senior Variety, and the accordionist Nelson Conceição, music teacher who, in 2011, won the 1st Prize of the “Italia Award” for best modern composition.

This concert is divided into two parts: in the first, the musicians perform a personal repertoire in various places in the Gulbenkian Foundation garden, and later, together, they will perform in the open-air amphitheater.

The repertoire created for this presentation «was made from a methodology of deconstruction, construction, destroying and rebuilding various melodies, harmonies and rhythms, in order to find a perfect musical synthesis that results from the collective work and the musical universe of each one. of the musicians”, explain the promoters.

«cyneticum it is thus, an evocation of the Roman period that the Algarve lived in Antiquity and of which there are ethnolinguistic traces that have had an influence on the way of combining melodies. On the other hand, the recovery of some themes from the Mediterranean, Middle-East, and South America are important in the conception of this concert», they add.

The first part of this show, in Jardim, does not require payment of a ticket. But admission to the open-air amphitheater costs 16 euros, which will cost 11,26 euros, with discounts for over 65s.
