Domingos Silva, 93 years old, member number 14 of Portimonense Sporting Clube, made a point of going this morning to Alameda da Praça da República, in Portimão, to see and greet the group of players from his club of the heart who participated in Porti's activities Happiness.

The mega animation event, aimed in particular at children and families, continues this afternoon, until 19:00. On the stage set up in front of Igreja do Colégio, they will also pass the Orquestra and Choir Vida & Música, coming from Seville, the Zumba of the Ginásio Amarílis, and the swing of Capoeira Revolution. There is also a firefighting demonstration, made by the Firefighters Volunteers of Portimão.

In the morning, fans raved about the music of young accordionist Francisco Monteiro, a native of Portimo who was a finalist in the television program Got Talent. And because the Porti Alegria event is aimed at families, among the audience was Francisco's grandfather, who was the person who offered him his first accordion, when he was 10 years old.

Then came Corporals Valério and Soares, from the GNR Cinotécnica Unit, with their dogs specially trained for specific missions, the «Átila», of the Belgian malinois shepherd breed, and the «Ice», a black labrador retriever. Before a large and very interested audience, the man+dog pairs showed the usefulness of these intelligent animals for missions such as securing a perimeter or searching for narcotics and other substances.

During the morning, in the stalls set up around Praça da Alameda, and now in the afternoon, there are many activities taking place. Face paintings, health screenings carried out by the Portuguese Red Cross, portrait photographs, make-up with Forma & Animus, drawings and paintings with Aldamir and Aurora, are some examples.

Some elderly people, especially women, from the home at the foot of Alameda, were the first to be taken care of by the hairdresser and beauticians. After the hair was fixed and the makeup done, it was time to take the portrait, in the improvised studio of photographer Vítor Tempera.

Shortly after, three of these older inhabitants of Portimão – Mr. António João, D. Maria Julieta and D. Hortênsia – went up on stage to receive, from the hands of the Mayor Isilda Gomes, the chairman of the Parish Council, Álvaro Bila and the pastor of the Baptist Church César Corsete his photograph properly framed.

With the sun warming up, it was time for part of the Portimonense team to introduce themselves: captain Ricardo Pessoa and Ivo Nicolau, Carlos Pires, Ricardo Ferreira and Zambujo. The captain guaranteed, for the four games remaining until the end of the season, the "greater commitment" of the squad.

Carla Almeida, the service presenter, invited everyone to go tomorrow, at 16 pm, to watch the game between Portimonense-Atlético, of the 00th round of the II Football League, at the Estádio Municipal de Portimão. In addition to a good football match, this game will also stage the initiative «To the Ball to Help», which results in the collection of several tons of food and other goods that are distributed by local social support institutions.

Then it was time to surprise the Portimonense players, calling the women's volleyball team from Escola Secundária Poeta António Aleixo, to play a mini game of this sport with them, but with a trick – the players had their eyes covered with a sale. Obviously, the victory smiled on the four players – Laura, Vanessa, Madalena and Ari. But the guys from Portimonense didn't take it wrong...

As an organization of the Baptist Church of Portimão, with the support of the Parish Council and the City Council, the objective is to «create in Portimão the culture of “Family Day”, promoting activities and services that benefit and promote family relationships, through all the achievements practiced in this event». Until 19:00, there is still a lot to do and to see.
