The Mundialito 2015, the biggest children's football tournament in the world, has officially kicked off. The opening ceremony, which took place this Sunday, at the Vila Real de Santo António Sports Complex, brought together around 10 thousand people in a show full of light, colour, music and animation that paid homage to the cultures of the five continents of the world.
Once again, the opening of the competition featured the parade of 4 children and 200 clubs that are participating in this mega tournament, in a show coordinated by choreographer Israel Reyes.
In the end, it was kicked off by the mayors of VRSA and Ayamonte, Luís Gomes and Antonio J. Rodríguez Castillo, by the general director of the tournament, Nilda Gutiérez, and by the founder of the competition, Ricardo Godoy.
Until next Saturday, around 4000 children from 50 countries will play more than 700 games, divided between the cities of VRSA and Ayamonte.
In terms of innovation, Mundialito 2015 is divided this year into five groups. In addition to the usual formations (7/8 years old, 9/10 years old and Cherubim), the 11 and 12 year olds will be split, giving rise to two autonomous groups, which will raise the competitive level.
In addition to the football festival, there is the «Mundialito Center», a space for socializing between sportsmen, clubs and sponsors where merchandise products can be purchased and where numerous activities for visitors take place.
The «Museu Mundialito» is located here, where nearly 3 items such as shirts and books autographed by the great names of football are on display.
For the third consecutive year, the event is part of the activities of the Eurocity of Guadiana, made up of the municipalities of Vila Real de Santo António, Castro Marim and Ayamonte, a fact that shows the projection and Iberian dimension of the event.
