Daniel Rato will be honored at the Grande Gala do Accordeão 2014, which takes place on November 15 at Teatro Municipal de Faro, at 21 pm. The gala is held within the scope of the “Terra de Acordeão” project.
Names such as Ilda Maria, Hélder Barracosa, João Filipe Guerreiro, Fábio Guerreiro, Maria Adélia Botelho, Pedro Cabanita, Tino Costa, Folequestra, Acordealma, Nelson Conceição and Daniel Rato will parade on the stage of this event.
The project “Terra de Acordeão”, which has as artistic coordinators Hermenegildo Guerreiro and Nelson Conceição, began in 2008 with the Grande a Homagem a João Barra Bexiga. It is promoted by the Parish Council of Santa Bárbara de Nexe in partnership with the Sociedade Recreativa Bordeirense and with the support of the Municipal Council of Faro, from the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, from PRODER, from the Association of Accordionists of the Algarve “Mito Algarvio”; Beltuna Portugal and Gráfica Ossónoba;
Under this project, the following have already been honored: João Barra Bexiga; José Ferreiro (father & son) and António Madeirinha.
In addition to the great tribute galas with the presence of some of the most renowned accordionists, the project's mission is to collect and publish literary and record-breaking authors from the Algarve, in general, and from Nexenses in particular. In this context, CDs have already been edited with the participation of great national and international accordionists who paid homage to the aforementioned authors. In addition, books have been published with all the work of João Barra Bexiga and António Madeirinha.
On the 9th, at the Sociedade Recreativa Bordeirense, the exhibition about Daniel Rato was inaugurated, enhanced by several emotional testimonies and a small concert by the honoree. This inauguration was attended by Alexandra Gonçalves, regional director of Culture, and Rogério Bacalhau, president of the City Council of Faro. The CD in honor of Daniel Rato is scheduled to be released during this Grand Gala on November 15th.
