The Academic Association of the University of Algarve (AAUAlg) will receive the prize for Good Practice in Student Associations, at a ceremony to be held in Braga, in December.
The distinction is motivated by the 2013 Caloiro Reception, an event that the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth, which awards the award, considered to be an example.
"This award aims to distinguish youth associations and higher education student associations, registered and effective in the National Register of Youth Associations, which stood out, in 2013, for their outstanding characteristics and projects," as revealed by AAUAlg.
"Although the freshman reception is an initiative that may generate some controversy, AAUALG has done a lot in recent years to create the best conditions for the integration of new students in the academy", an effort that, considered the association, in a press release, is now recognized.
