Guida Jesus, former coordinator of JS Tavira, is the new president of the Political Commission of JS Algarve, while José Pedro Cardoso was re-elected as president of the young socialists in the Algarve.

The JS Algarve Regional Convention, which took place on December 21, at the Centro Autárquico de Quarteira, unanimously elected the new JS Algarve Political Commission, as well as JS representatives in the PS Algarve Regional Political Commission.

Throughout the day, several themes were discussed, with emphasis on the issues of youth unemployment and education. The Global Motion for Strategy “Youth in Struggle” was also unanimously approved, and its first subscriber, José Pedro Cardoso, was thus re-elected as president of JS Algarve.

In the closing session, João Torres, secretary general of Socialist Youth, spoke of “Combat and Alternative”, referring to the two axes that mark the challenges that JS faces today, placing on the same level of importance both “the combat to this government as the construction of a true left-wing alternative”.

For his part, José Cardoso, president of JS Algarve, stated in his closing speech that “mobilizing a whole young generation to fight for the defense of their interests is the battle of our lives”.

The president of the young socialists in the Algarve also stated that “freeing the Algarve from the tolls of Via do Infante and from the marginalization of the Central Power is a fight for Freedom”, also saying to the young socialists present that “we have a duty to transform politics”.
