The current president of the General Direction of the Academic Association of the University of Algarve Filipa Braz da Silva heads the only candidate list for this body, in the elections that will take place on December 3rd. The scenario of a single candidacy is repeated in the elections for the Board of the Magna Assembly and the Supervisory Board, and there are only four lists competing for the 7 pedagogical cores.
According to Rádio Universitária do Algarve RUA FM (102.7 FM), the deadline for submitting candidacies ended last Friday, with no more interested in taking the reins of the association, a lack of enthusiasm that, apparently, was transversal to all organs.
Filipa Braz da Silva is re-applying for her second term, after a first year marked by restraint and efforts to rebalance the association's finances. The complicated situation of the community, which owns a company with dozens of employees in charge, which manages the services of AAUAlg, may be at the base of the predominance of single lists.
The new list will not feature the treasurer who began the current term, who resigned in the summer. A year ago, Filipa da Silva admitted that one of the reasons that led her to present a candidacy was the inclusion of Nelson Sobreiro on the list, given her experience in the academic associative movement.
