The best seafood in the Algarve, often accompanied by music by well-known artists, will take over Olhão from today, Saturday, until the next 15th of August. Tony Carreira is the head of the poster for the first night of this emblematic Algarvian gastronomic event, whose inauguration will feature the presence of the Secretary of State for the Sea Manuel Pinto de Abreu.

The inauguration, with the member of the Government, is scheduled for 19:30 pm today, at Jardim Pescador Olhanense. From here, and for six days, the “hunt” for dishes of the most varied types of seafood is open, together with one of the main suppliers of the event, Ria Formosa.

In 2013, mussels will be highlighted, a seafood that will have a stand dedicated to it, but there will be no lack of other delicacies that have made the gastronomic fair from Olhão famous, such as spider crabs, lobsters, shrimps, whelks, clams, cataplanas, crabs, paellas or seafood rice.

In addition to seafood, which is “king and lord” of the Festival, local artists also take part in this great event, opening the main concerts, and showing the municipality's musical potential.

From light music to rock, the Seafood Festival will feature, in the first part of the shows by Tony Carreira, Carminho, Xutos & Pontapés, João Pedro Pais, U2UK, and Revelação (August 10th to 15th, in that order), with the performances of Luís Guilherme (10th), Fuseta Music School (11th), Ricardo Ribeiro and Renato Martins (12th), Written Leaves – Catarina Patarata and Pâmela Luz (13th), M90 Project (14th) and Domingos Caetano (15th).

The venue opens every day at 19:30 pm and closes at 01:30 am, with tickets costing eight euros for adults and three euros for children aged between seven and 12 years.
