Join the local seafood, whose flavor and quality are well known inside and outside, to a planted garden on the edge of the Ria and renowned artists, and you get the Seafood Festival in Olhão.

The 28th edition of the gastronomic event will take place from August 10th to 15th at Jardim Pescador Olhanense and, in 2013, will pay special attention to mussels.

The event, which was presented this Friday at a press conference at the Câmara de Olhão, is once again focusing on the same ingredients, despite adding some special condiments. In addition to a stand dedicated to mussels, winking at the Spanish neighbors, “Aunt Maya” was also invited to wink at the celebrities.

The media-oriented Portuguese astrologer and producer of events is once again associated with an initiative in Olhão, after having organized the last New Year's Eve in this city. On the 10th, when the event opens, Maya will be present at the Festival and, hopefully, will convince many celebrities who are in the holiday region to do the same.

The presence of the well-known “aunt”, as she proudly presents herself, is just another argument available to the organization, to convince as many people as possible to attend.

The main one is, and always has been, seafood from Ria Formosa. If not, let's see: spider crabs, shrimps, whelks, clams, cataplanas, crabs, paellas or seafood rice are some of the delicacies available, all of them capable of making true connoisseurs mouth water by simply being mentioned (in this case , read).

Another factor that has assumed growing importance is the musical poster. The Chamber of Olhão has been betting on strength in this field for years now, and 2013 will be no exception.

As soon as the festival opens, on the 10th, Tony Carreira will be present, a Portuguese romantic singer who has the gift of drawing crowds wherever he goes.

On August 11, the young Portuguese fado singer «Carminho» arrives, one of the voices of the moment and already a reference in this musical style.

The party continues, on the 12th, with what is considered by many to be the best Portuguese rock band and, certainly, the one with the longest and most successful career, the «'Xutos e Pontapés». On August 13, the Portuguese contingent says goodbye with the well-known João Pedro Pais.

On the last two days of the event, August 14th and 15th, there will be international bands on stage, namely a tribute to U2 from the UK and the Brazilians «Grupo Reveleção», respectively.

Tickets for the event will cost 8 euros for adults and 3 euros for children from 7 to 12 years. For children up to 6 years old, if accompanied by an adult, entry is free.
