Walking from restaurant to restaurant, tasting well-watered snacks, taking a break to enter a pastry shop and eat an Algarve sweet with a liqueur or tea, and still have time to walk, chat with friends and listen to music.

This is the spirit of Rota do Petisco, organized in Portimão by the association Teia D'Impulsos, whose 3rd edition will take place between 6 September and 13 October.

This time, there will be 70 spaces to be visited by the petiscadores and with two novelties: the Route expands, for the first time, to Alvor and to Ferragudo, which even belongs to the neighboring municipality of Lagoa.

This year, the Portimão Petisco Route's operating model will be repeated. The stops of the Gastronomic Route correspond to the various establishments that adhere to the project, which offer participants their Route Menu, distinguishing two modes: the Route Menu in the “Snack” mode, consisting of a small dish and a drink, with the unit price of 2,50 euros, and the Route Menu in the “Regional Sweet” modality, consisting of a dessert and a drink, with the unit price of 2,00 euros.

To travel the Route, you only need to have the Route Passport, which will be distributed in the participating locations.

By “snacking” at each establishment, the Petiscador gets a new stamp in his passport and, by collecting the stamps, he can qualify for the Route Awards, such as visits with tastings to Algarve wineries or sailing trips.

Those who complete at least 15 stops on their route on Route 2013, are also entitled to a participation gift: double invitation to visit the Museum of Portimão.

For more information, the Portimão Petisco Route Operating Regulations are available at www.teiadimpulsos.pt.

«One of the secrets of success is based on the various synergies that TDI establishes, with emphasis on the partnership with the Municipality of Portimão. In addition to this, the 2013 edition has the support of the Parish Councils of Portimão, Alvor and Ferragudo, the Portimão Tourism Association, the Algarve Tourism Region, the Algarve Tourism Association, the Algarve Wine Commission and the ACRAL – Association of Commerce and Services of the Algarve Region», stresses the organization.

Establishments on the Portimão Snack Route

The selection of restaurants, dining spaces or patisseries for the Petisco Route implies offering traditional Algarve or national cuisine, or regional patisseries.

It was also a criterion to be located in an area where several adherent spaces are grouped, allowing Petiscadores to walk through different places.

In the 3rd edition of Rota do Petisco de Portimão, the number of participating establishments will be 70, well above the 41 that gave flavor to Route 2012. There are 69 different proposals to enjoy on this route, 58 in the snack modality and 12 in the regional sweet modality.

The 70 participating establishments are spread over seven different areas, which in 2013 will also have a wider geographic distribution.

Thus, in addition to the center of Portimão (blue, green, yellow and red zones, with 37 establishments) and Praia da Rocha (orange zone, with 16 establishments), in 2013 the Route will also reach Alvor (brown zone, with 8 establishments). establishments), with the fundamental support of Associação Alvorecer, which stimulated the creation of this new area of the Rota do Petisco.

Another novelty is the inclusion of a Guest Zone outside the municipality of Portimão, which in 2013 will be Ferragudo (pink zone, with 9 establishments).

«In times of economic difficulties, we bet on the maintenance of the price list practiced since the first edition, in order to keep the Rota do Petisco accessible to as many participants as possible, regardless of their socio-economic class», says the association Teia d 'Impulses.

A Solidary Route

In 2013, Rota will also show solidarity. Route participants, when starting their itinerary, will be invited to make a donation of 1 euro in exchange for handing over their passport, thus having the opportunity to help those in need.

The donations collected in the “Piggy Banks of the Route” will be delivered to three local social projects, namely the Social Refectory of the Social Center of Nossa Senhora do Amparo, in Portimão, the Bom Samaritano Children's Home, in Alvor, and the Support Center for the Elderly , from Ferragudo.

Passports for the Portimão Petisco Route can be purchased at 70 establishments that adhere to the Route 2013, as well as at Route Information Offices: Municipal Museum of Portimão, Portimão Tourism Office, Manuel Teixeira Gomes House in Portimão, Tourism Office of Praia da Rocha, Alvor Tourism Office and Ferragudo Post Office.

Cultural Animation Program on the Portimão Petisco Route

The Route will once again present an offer of cultural and artistic activities that will intersect with the various stops on the Gastronomic Route.

In order to ensure the richness of this program, both in diversity and in quantity, it has been essential to establish partnerships with cultural associations and other entities that collaborate in the design of the program.

This program will once again consist of various artistic manifestations, with emphasis on music, street entertainment, dance, poetry and gatherings, among others.

Among the highlights of the Cultural Animation Program for this 2013 edition, the following stand out, among others:

Initiatives such as the “Route of Illustration”, with the support of the MODE, and “Rota das Imagens”, with the support of André Mota, will launch the challenge so that everyone can express, in different forms of artistic expression, their experience of the Route.

The most original and creative illustrations, sayings and images of the Route, in addition to being prizes, will also be gathered in the exhibition “My Brand on the Route”, which will be on display at the Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes in Portimão from 25 October to November 17th.
